Feb. 19, 2012 | Topic: Human resources and know howFive of Denmark’s most talented researchers have received the Elite Research Grant of DKK 1.2 million to continue their projects, writes the Politiken daily newspaper
Climate change, scarce energy resources, an aging population, increasing global competition, recession and debt issues. The international challenges are many, and research is one of the remedies. European welfare and growth is dependent on research, innovation and education in close collaboration with the private sector.
Five of the most competent Danish researchers have now received the Elite Research Grant, presented by Prince Joakim and Minister for Education, Morten Østergaard.
The awards were made shortly after the European Union’s ministers for education and research gathered in Copenhagen to initiate the world’s largest research programme, Horizon 2020.
- The future of Europe is dependent on research and innovation. This award is an honour to some of our most talented young researchers and research itself, says Morten Østergaard.
Besides this grant, DKK 300,000 has been distributed to 17 aspiring Ph.D. students in each of their respective areas of study.
